About Origova
Origova is a one-person software company. It's built and run by Spencer Flaherty, an independent developer in California, and it does one job: it scans a Shopify catalog for missing or malformed customs data — HS codes, country of origin, weight — and lets merchants fix all of it in bulk instead of product by product.
Why it exists
In 2025 the United States suspended the de minimis exemption, and suddenly every parcel crossing the border needed real customs data. Shopify stores everywhere hit the same wall: the required fields live in a collapsed subsection of the admin, no report shows which products are missing them, and the product CSV can't export them. Big importers have compliance teams for this; a store doing 40 orders a month has nobody. Origova is the tool that gap deserved — priced for small stores ($7.99–14.99/month, free to scan), because a $2,500-a-year answer to this problem is no answer at all for most merchants.
How this site is written
Every guide and comparison here is written under three rules. Plain English — no broker jargon without explanation. Honest about competitors — our comparison pages say when Zonos or Dutycode or Shopify's free tools are the right choice, because that's what makes the pages worth citing. Honest about limits — no tool, ours included, can legally make your classification decisions; where a licensed customs broker is the right answer, the page says so. And no affiliate links, ever — this site earns nothing from any product it recommends or compares; the only thing sold here is Origova itself.
Who's behind it
Spencer Flaherty designs, builds, documents, and supports Origova solo. That means the person who answers your support email is the person who wrote the code — and merchant problems reported one week routinely become fixes the next. You can follow the company on X and LinkedIn.
